In Nosara, food is more than sustenance—it’s part of the rhythm. Days begin with sun and salt, and end with woodsmoke, candlelight, and the hum of conversation drifting through palm-fringed air. From barefoot beach bars to tucked-away garden trattorias and open-air grills, Nosara’s dining scene is a reflection of the town itself: soulful, unpolished in the best way, and quietly world-class. Whether you're craving fresh-caught seafood, wood-fired steaks, or handmade pasta under the stars, this is a place where meals are never just meals—they’re memories waiting to happen.

La Brasa

If you spot a freshly chopped pile of wood on the street, you’re likely walking by La Brasa, Nosara’s beloved Argentinian woodfire grill tucked in North Guiones. Come evening, that pile shrinks as the cooks stack it inside—cue woodfired magic. For dinner, indulge in top-tier grilled steaks—from Tbone to a massive tomahawk cut—accompanied by a surprisingly tasty crispy chicken schnitzel, charred Parmesan greens, fresh chimichurri, and superflaky beef empanadas.   Good vibes, occasional live music and a solid wine list.  La Brasa delivers a memorable premium dining experience in surftown style.

Pacifico Azul

Just a two minute walk, Pacifico Azul is the kind of unassuming gem that quietly rewards those who wander in. The mood is local, laid-back, whitewashed walls, salt air, the clatter of ice in a glass. Plates arrive with intention: pasta perfectly al dente, line-caught fish still tasting of the sea, steaks grilled just-so, and vibrant salads that feel like a celebration of the tropics. There’s generosity here—in portion, in flavour, in spirit.

Posada Margarita

Tucked into a sun-dappled garden just a three minute walk, Posada Margarita feels like a secret whispered among those who know. A tangle of potted palms, rustic wood tables, a vespa and candlelight set the tone for comfort with character. The margarita pizza is a study in simplicity—bubbled crust, bright tomato, and just the right kiss of basil. The pomodoro is equally pure, its sauce slow-simmered and soulful. This is Italian done right, with no pretense—just honest flavours, great wine, and that unmistakable feeling that you’ve found your place for the evening.

Howlers

Just steps from the sand at North Guiones beach access, Howlers is the kind of beach bar you picture when you close your eyes and think of Costa Rica. Rustic and weathered in all the right ways, it hums with an energy that shifts with the tide—laid-back by day, lively as the evening crowd drifts in. Order a tangy, perfectly salted margarita and watch the light fade, or dive straight into their standout tuna carpaccio, so fresh it almost tastes of the ocean breeze. This is a place where the surf still roars in your ears, flip-flops are always welcome, and sunset lingers just a little longer.ocated steps from the beach at the North Guiones beach access, Howlers is THE local beach bar.  A  rustic, and at times lively bar serving tasty margaritas and an exceptional tuna carpaccio!

La Catedral

La Catedral is special. More than a restaurant, it’s a creative refuge perched above the jungle, where food, art, and atmosphere converge. Tucked just beyond the bustle of town, it offers sweeping views of the treetops and sea, a canvas that shifts with the light. But it’s what happens inside that truly captivates: the space hums with artful intention, curated by its passionate operators whose backgrounds in music, design, and food culture are evident in every detail—from the playlists to the plating. The menu reads like a love letter to Costa Rica, but with global accents: local fish crudo, charred vegetables, housemade pastas, and inventive cocktails served with soul. At La Catedral, the experience is layered—funky, refined, and a little unexpected—and by the end of the night, you feel like you’ve dined inside someone’s creative heart.

Olo Alaia

Olo Alaia – Surf & Brew is where raw surf culture meets curated style. Equal parts premium surf shop, coffee bar, and craft beer hangout, it hums with an easy rhythm that feels distinctly Nosara. Hand-shaped boards—some ready to ride, others worthy of gallery walls—line the space like a love letter to wave-chasing. There’s a gritty, sun-worn honesty here, softened by good design and strong coffee. Outside, a taco truck dishes out smoky, satisfying bites; inside, you might stumble into a pop-up art show, or catch the After Surf Band riffing under soft lights. Whether you're nursing a cold IPA, talking board shapes, or just soaking in the vibe, Olo Alaia is a living room for the surf-obsessed, equal parts workshop and sanctuary.
